Growing up I would always look at old photos of my family in Colombia. It was tradition for my great Grandparents, uncles, cousins to get all dressed up and go to their neighborhood portrait studio. When people lived in the same place for many years the relationship between photographer and subject was often long term. Which is why I install this project for at least a month at a time. Its that relationship that Im interested in capturing in this project. In 2009 I opened a temporary portrait studio in downtown Brooklyn. The result was 250 faces of the people of Brooklyn looked like then. These are some photos of the project in also London and Los Angeles. This project is ongoing. All photos are shot with a 4x5 large format view camera.
